Hirz Fire 100% Contained, Delta Fire At 5% Containment

The Delta Fire has joined the western edge of the Hirz Fire, representing the Delta’s 5% containment. The human caused Delta Fire started last Wednesday afternoon, and has burned 47,110 acres. Crews are focusing on tying in control lines with Shotgun Ridge at the north edge, Fenders Ferry and Dog Creek Roads at the southeast and continuing operations in the Damnation Pass and Fools Gulch areas to the west. The Hirz Fire, which started off Gilman Road August 9th, is 100% contained after burning 46,150 acres. Officials have not done a comprehensive structure damage assessment on the Delta Fire and are unable to provide any numbers, but they say multiple homes and other structures have been destroyed. Delta Incident Commander Ricky Young says the area’s recent fires are more intense than they’ve ever been. Structure protection is active in the Trinity Lake area. Evacuations are in effect from Vollmers to Gibson. Trinity County has issued mandatory evacuation orders for East Fork Road to Ramshorn Road east to the Shasta County line. In Siskiyou County an evacuation warning has been issued for Dunsmuir. A community meeting on the Delta Fire will be held at the Trinity Center Community Hall Monday night at 6 O’clock. The meeting will be recorded and posted to Shasta Trinity National Forest on Facebook.
