A bear that was wandering around East Redding Monday morning ended up crawling into a culvert that runs under Interstate 5 and Churn Creek Road south of the Fly Shop, and it’s apparently still there. Fish and Wildlife wardens have placed a bear cage at one end and are hoping to trap and relocate the bear. It was first seen a little before 6AM near Denny’s Restaurant on the west side of Interstate Five. Estimated at a couple hundred pounds, the bear ambled up East Cypress Avenue to Larkspur Lane then continued onto westbound Hartnell with Redding Police following it. The bear crossed the freeway a few times before ending up in the culvert.
