Supervisors Deny Change To Zoning Ordinance

Opponents of a proposed large subdivision in Palo Cedro have won a round in their battle to defeat the project. On Tuesday the Shasta County Board of Supervisors was asked to approve an amendment to the Shasta County General Plan that would change the zoning in that area to allow high density housing. The change had already passed the Shasta County Planning Commission. After a debate the board eventually declined to approve the amendment. One of the factors was a letter of opposition submitted to the board by Sheriff Tom Bosenko, who pointed out the strain the additional homes would have on public safety, including fire stations and personnel, medical facilities and law enforcement.
