Schreder Says Tourism Will Rebound At Annual State Of The City

A sold out crowd of more than 800 filled the Redding Civic Auditorium Tuesday for the annual State of the City Address. Mayor Kristen Schreder laid out a list of accomplishments for the city over the past year and looking forward. Number one is how tourism will rebound in the wake of the Carr Fire. Visit California CEO Caroline Beteta said the city will be getting a grant $442,000 to promote tourism. Schreder focused on the communities youth by highlighting mentorship programs. She also mentioned a list of projects that have been completed last year including the Victor Improvement Project, a junior bike course at Caldwell Park, the downtown overhaul including the upcoming courthouse project, direct air service to Los Angeles starting in March, the renovation of the Mt. Shasta Mall, and the upcoming 50th anniversary of the MLK Center.
