Short Barreled Shotgun Found During Traffic Stop In Red Bluff

Two arrests were made after a Tehama County Deputy caught up to a reckless driver in Red Bluff. Just before 1AM Tuesday morning the deputy saw a Mitsubishi weaving in and out of traffic at high speed on Southbound Interstate Five just north of Red Bluff. The deputy lost sight of the car near Adobe Road but then spotted it again as it exited the freeway at Antelope Boulevard. The deputy followed as he apparently watched the car run through two red lights before turning onto Gilmore Road. The car was pulled over on Mina Avenue and a search was done. A short barreled shotgun was reportedly found in a backpack belonging to the driver, 20-year-old Donavan Hackett of Red Bluff. A records check showed the passenger, 31-year-old Nicholas Kubiak of Redding, had two arrest warrants out of Shasta County. They were both booked into jail and additional drug charges will be filed against both of them as well.
