Three local Cal-Trans employees have received “Superior Accomplishment Awards” for their rescue efforts on State Route 36 West last March after a vehicle went over an embankment near Three Towers. On a snowy evening, Lonnie Swartout noticed vehicle tracks going off the roadway and called in Dave Britt and Ben Anderson. The three helped to free the occupants of the vehicle and their dogs and provided them articles of their own clothing in sub-freezing temperatures. The three men work at the District 2 Platina Maintenance Facility.
