Missing Crescent City Man Dead In Remote Area

A search for a Crescent City man who was missing in Siskiyou County has not ended well. 46-year-old Jason Cantrall had been hunting with a female friend in the Beaver Creek Area. She reported him missing on October First, saying she hadn’t seen him since September 20th. A search was launched that eventually involved search and rescue personnel from 7 California counties and 3 Oregon counties, as well as the CHP, the Air National Guard, the Forest Service and about 20 of Cantrall’s friends and family members. He was considered to be at risk because he was an insulin-dependant diabetic. His pickup truck was found abandoned on a Forest Service road, which narrowed the search. On Friday Cantrall’s body was spotted by a National Guard helicopter crew. There were apparently no outward signs of trauma or foul play, but an autopsy will be done this week and the investigation is not complete, according to the sheriff’s office.
