Criminal Complaint Filed Against Palo Cedro Chiropractor

A Shasta County chiropractor is facing criminal charges for allegedly giving very bad advice to patients. The district attorney’s office filed a case Thursday against Steven C. Davis of Palo Cedro, including a felony charge of practicing medicine without a license. A complaint about Davis’s practices led the California Department of Consumer Affairs to open an investigation. They sent an undercover investigator into Davis’s business to pose as a patient. She told Davis that she had cancer related symptoms and a doctor had advised her to get a biopsy and begin treatment. Upon hearing this, Davis allegedly advised her against the doctor’s recommendation and said he could treat the symptoms himself. Davis is not a doctor. Other patients who believe they’ve been ill advised by Davis are urged to contact the D.A.’s Consumer Protection Hotline at 225-5391.
