RPD: Parolee Arrested After Foot Chase

Two men were arrested following a foot chase by Redding Police early Wednesday morning. At around 1AM officers on patrol in the area of Creekside Street and Mullen Parkway came across a truck with a shattered window and a punched ignition, which was a pretty good indication it had been stolen. The officers then began looking around and soon spotted two men who fled upon seeing them. 32-year-old John Logan Beard was chased down and officers pepper sprayed him to help subdue him. He’s on parole and was booked on several charges, as well as a couple of warrants. The other man, identified as Visai Mokthephathai, was chased through a canal in knee-high water until he surrendered when threatened with a baton. He was arrested for resisting an officer.
