Man Arrested At Turtle Bay East With Fake Guns

A Redding man was arrested Thursday night with the makings of mischief, according to police. At around 11:30PM, RPD Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity at the North Bechelli River Trail Access and Dog Park, otherwise known as Turtle Bay East. The first arriving officer found two people in a car and immediately saw a handgun on the floor near the driver’s feet. Both people were detained, and the gun turned out to be a replica that had been altered to look real. A second replica handgun was also reportedly found in the car, along with a Billy Club, various prescription drugs and a large ring of assorted car keys, including a shaved key that can be used to get into various kinds of vehicles. The passenger was released but the driver, 27-year-old Christopher Kirchner, was jailed.
