Woman Reports Attempted Kidnapping Along Highway 99

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an attempted kidnapping in Gridley. Around 10AM Monday morning, a 20-year-old woman driving on Highway 99 had pulled over into an orchard to check tire pressure, when a man in a truck pulled up behind her and asked if she needed help. When the woman declined, the man reportedly grabbed her and tried dragging her back to his pickup. She managed to break free and the man drove off southbound toward Live Oak. The suspect is described as a white man, 50 to 60 years old with short, curly salt and pepper colored hair, a brown mustache and sores on his face. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with writing on it and pajama pants with baseballs on them. His pickup is described as an early 90’s cream colored Toyota with a dent in the tailgate.
