House Democrats Look For Win In California Farm Belt

MODESTO, Calif. (AP) – Democrats trying to gain control of the U.S. House on Election Day are looking to California’s farm belt to flip a seat. Republican Rep. Jeff Denham is in a tough fight in the 10th District with Democrat Josh Harder. Denham hung on by 3 points in 2016. Campaign money has been flooding the district, including more than $10 million from outside groups. Democrats are targeting a string of Republican-held House districts in California carried by Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Democrats need 23 seats to gain control of the House. Harder is arguing that Washington Republicans aren’t doing enough to help a region with a high poverty rate.
