Forest Service Selling Christmas Tree Permits

Although it’s way too early to cut your Christmas Tree, you can get your permit now. The Shasta Trinity Unit of the U.S. Forest Service advises people to avoid lines and delays by getting their permit early. Last year, over 8,000 Christmas Tree permits were purchased at Shasta-Trinity National Forest offices, with a majority purchased the week of Thanksgiving. Each permit costs $10 and there is a limit of one tree per household. Forest Service offices accept credit cards, cash, or checks made out to: USDA Forest Service. Fourth-grade students are eligible for a free Christmas Tree permit under the Every Kid in a Park Program. Permits are available at 3644 Avtech Parkway in Redding, the Shasta Lake Ranger Station in Mountain Gate, and Ranger Stations in Hayfork, Weaverville, MCcloud, Mt. Shasta and Platina.
