RPD Adjusts Policies After Federal Court Decision

In light of a federal court decision in Idaho that could limit authorities’ ability to deal with transients, the Redding Police Department has adjusted their polices. The ruling is being appealed, but in the meantime, RPD will continue to enforce a long list of quality of life issues, including disturbing the peace, drug activity, open containers, alcohol in parks, pubic intoxication, loitering, building camp fires, littering, dogs in parks and being in a park after closing. The city is watching the court case closely and considering how to adjust going forward if the ruling is upheld.
