Two Killed When Plane Crashes North Of Redding Airport

A small plane crashed just north of Redding Municipal Airport Thursday evening, killing the 2 people on board. Fire crews and law enforcement had difficulty reaching the crash scene, which was on private property in an area of rough terrain. The accident happened around 6:30PM, as the pilot of the single engine Cessna 1-82 from the Sacramento area, apparently experienced a problem just after departing the runway. Investigators from the NTSB in Seattle and the FAA in Sacrmento are investigating the accident scene. The identities of the deceased have not been released.
