Update: Bicyclist Suffer Major Injuries, Wet Weather Causes Several Crashes

An accident Tuesday morning has resulted in major injuries to a bicyclist. At about 6:40AM, Redding Police were called to the area of Hilltop Drive and Browning Street to a collision between a black Honda Accord and a black mountain bike. Both were southbound on Hilltop Drive when, for an unknown reason, the car struck the rear of the bicycle, causing the rider to fall. It was raining heavily at the time. The driver of the Honda, 39-year-old Janette Brockman of Redding, was uninjured. The bike rider, 19-year-old Max Tehrani of Redding, was not wearing a helmet and was taken to Mercy Hospital for major injuries. Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in this collision. Lanes were closed as the accident scene was cleared.

There was also an accident at Kenyon Road and Highway 273. The California Highway Patrol has reported several accidents due to the rainy weather, including spin-outs and hydroplaning. There was also a mud and rock slide on Highway 299 in Trinity County.
