The long awaited Costco project is on hold again. A letter sent to the Planning Commission from a San Francisco attorney prior to Tuesday’s meeting of the Planning Commission says that because a health risk assessment of the project was omitted from the draft EIR, it should be re-circulated before the Planning Commission can act on it. Attorney Mark Wolf is representing an association of Redding residents know as the Bonnyview Bechelli Coalition. The Planning Commission agreed with the findings and voted to re-circulate those aspects of the EIR for 60 days. The warehouse store planned for the I-5 and Bechelli Intersection will be back for consideration at a later date. Also at the Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners voted to delay an 87-room hotel project adjacent to the Grocery Outlet and the Churn Creek Post Office. The commission was concerned about noise and light affecting neighbors. Developer Jay Patel says it won’t necessarily kill the project completely.
