A 76-year-old Hayfork woman suffered major injuries Sunday night when she struck by a car. At around 5:30PM, Trina Amore was walking across Highway 3 to Wiley’s Market in Hayfork just before the Hayfork Christmas Parade. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Yazan Abdul-Latif of Houston, Texas was driving a Nissan Altima northbound. When he saw the woman crossing the street he hit the brakes and pulled the wheel to the left to try and avoid hitting her. Instead, the car slid straight into Amore. Her right leg and hip were struck, throwing her onto the hood and causing her head to strike the windshield. She then fell to the roadway. Abdul-Latif provided aid to Amore until medical personnel arrived. She was taken by helicopter to Mercy in Redding to be treated for her leg, pelvis and head injuries.
