A decades-old automotive repair shop in Corning was destroyed by fire, and the Corning Police Chief is calling it suspicious, according to the Corning Observer Newspaper. The fire at Phil’s Automotive and Towing on Second Street started at around 2 O’clock Monday morning. It completely destroyed the office and shop, along with all the equipment and four vehicles. The fire did not damage the company’s tow trucks and they continue to do business from a shop across the street. Police Chief Jeremiah Fears says the fire is suspicious, and they’ve turned over evidence and a report to Cal-Fire investigators.
