A 59-year-old Red Bluff man was killed on Southbound Interstate 5 early Friday morning. Just after 3AM, Kenneth Victor Scott was apparently wearing dark clothing and lying down in the middle of the slow lane just north of the Red Bluff North Main Street offramp. Several drivers reported seeing Scott walking and nearly hitting him before he was run over by a tractor trailer driven by a Sacramento man. The trucker didn’t see Scott in time to avoid him and stopped a little south of the collision. The southbound lanes were all closed for a short time, and the slow lane and offramp were closed for 3-and-a-half hours as the CHP investigated and the coroner’s office recovered the body.
