RPD: Officers Arrest Two Known Drug Addicts

Redding Police say two people they arrested downtown Tuesday morning are well known to them as “prolific thieves and drug addicts”. At 8:45AM, an officer patrolling the Market Street Promenade come across 20-year-old Chelsea Yyatt, along with 28-year-old David Shankles, who’s on Post Release Supervision. A pile of items was on the ground next to them that turned out to be stolen. A newer iMac computer had been taken overnight from an unlocked car at the Thunderbird Lodge. A loaded rifle magazine had apparently been taken from a different car, along with the Jacket Hyatt was wearing. Police say both Hyatt and Shankles admitted to regularly walking through downtown parking lots looking for unlocked doors so they could steal things to support their heroin addictions.
