Government Shutdown Impacting Local National Parks

The partial government shutdown is affecting local national parks. Fishing access at Shasta Dam is open although the parking lots are closed and trash is not being picked up. According to the website for Whiskeytown, closures may be in effect however that park is mostly shut down following the Carr Fire. At Lassen Volcanic National Park, visitors can enter for free as there is no one to collect fees. For federal employees affected by the shutdown the Members First Credit Union is offering loans to help them through. The loans, of up to $3000 will be offered with no interest. Verification of employment by the Federal Government will be required. Current customers of Members First may also be eligible to skip loan payments or a credit line increase.
