Man Who Stole RV From Evacuation Zone Sentenced To Prison

A man who stole an RV from the Camp Fire area has been sentenced. 22-year-old Shayne Storm Tinnel Junior stole a recreational vehicle from a Magalia residence in the evacuation area. A former owner of the RV spotted it in Oroville in November, and recognized it as the one he had sold months before. The current owner was contacted and said the RV hadn’t been resold and should have been parked at the residence. The CHP was notified and verified that it was gone from the property. A Butte County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the stolen RV the next day in the vicinity of the Walmart in Chico and recognized Tinnel as the driver. The deputy found the RV’s ignition had been “punched” and Tinnel was arrested. Deputies recovered a large amount of suspected stolen property, including two backpack leaf blowers, car batteries and a large, flat-screen TV. Tinnel was sentenced to the maximum of three years and ordered to pay $2,736 in restitution to the victim for damage to the RV.
