Gerber Man Killed in Crash

A Gerber man was killed in a 2 car collision in Tehama County on Friday evening. According to the Red Bluff area C H P, a 2003 Mazda 3 was traveling southbound on Highway 99, just north of Westover Road, when it abruptly swerved into opposing traffic, hitting a 2017 Honda Accord. The occupants of both vehicles were trapped. Several people stopped to help before the Highway Patrol arrived. The driver of the Honda, 24-year-old Luis Garcia of Red Bluff, suffered a leg injury and was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Two girls, who were passengers in the Mazda, were taken to St. Elizabeth hospital in Red Bluff, then transported to U. C. Davis with major injuries. Another passenger, 24-year-old Julio Amador was treated at St. Elizabeth and succumbed to his injuries in the emergency room. The driver of the Mazda, 19-year-old Sandra Macedo of Corning, suffered leg injuries. The highway was closed for several hours. The C H P Red Bluff office is asking for the public’s help as their investigation continues.
