High Speed Chase Results in Arrest

A probationer from Oroville was arrested and a parolee from Orland apparently got away after a high-speed chase through Corning early Monday morning. Shortly before 3 AM, Corning police tried to pull over a Nissan sedan on Highway 99 West near South Avenue, but the driver accelerated, leading a three mile chase through town. While on the 1000 block of 5th street, the driver jumped from the moving car and ran away. A search of the area was done with no success, but officers apparently recognized the driver as 26-year-old Brandon Dawson. The passenger, 29-year-old Alexander Lemire, was arrested without a fight. Police reported finding several pounds of marijuana in the car, as well as a meth pipe.
