Retired K9 Has Died

A retired RPD K9 has died. according to his handler, Ryan Ellis, Tarro passed away Saturday from complications from surgery. The K9 served the Redding community for over 7 years before retiring in 2017. A search of KQMS news archives showed that Tarro was involved in numerous takedowns and arrests. Last year, Tarro recovered after bring poisoned during a break-in at the Ellis house. The department thanked “Communities for Police K9’s” and “RETIREDPAWS” for assisting with medical costs. Officer Ellis said: “While at the house my friends were amazed that this knuckle head dog would actually bite people at work. he was not only my partner at work, but he was a big part of the Ellis family. we love you Mr. Pup and we’ll miss you everyday.”
