Man in Wheelchair Suffers Major Injuries

A man in a wheelchair rolled directly into the path of a car and was struck Monday, according to Redding Police. Witnesses say it was 12:16 in the afternoon when 54-year-old Genaro Maravilla was traveling south on Willis Street in his electric wheelchair. He was going right down the middle of the road and apparently didn’t stop when he reached the stop sign at Placer Street. 81-year-old Joan Moynihan was heading uphill on Placer when the wheelchair was suddenly directly in front of her Honda Accord. She had no time to react and the collision ejected Maravilla from the chair. He suffered major injuries.
