Guilty Plea in Vehicle Death

A Shasta County woman has decided to plead guilty to charges involving the death of a man she hit with her car. On July 22nd of last year, 40-year-old Leslie Freiberg struck James Shryock with her car in the Anderson area, killing him. She then fled the scene. She was on probation at the time and had a prior strike conviction. She pled guilty Wednesday to felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, as well as a misdemeanor for leaving the scene. Next week she’ll be sentenced to the maximum of 12 years 8 months in state prison.
