One of Shasta County’s newly-identified “chronic offenders” has been captured, and he’s not going anywhere. The Chronic Offender Accountability Program announced last week focuses on nine individuals at a time, 3 each from Redding and Anderson Police, and 3 from the Sheriff’s Office. When they’re captured there are jail beds reserved for them so they don’t slip away before court. The D.A.’s Office then goes after maximum prosecution for them. Courtney Tyson was arrested over the weekend and arraigned Wednesday. He was one of the Sheriff’s Office’s offenders. He was arrested 5 times and generated 14 calls for service in 2017 and 2018. His arrests were for drunk driving, drugs, and theft.
