Sex Trafficking Film Showing

A film about a sex trafficking case that was prosecuted in Shasta County will be shown for free at the Cascade Theater Thursday night. The screening is sponsored by the Northern California Anti-trafficking Coalition, along with One Safe Place, Redding Rotary, Dignity Health and the Shasta County D.A.’s office. The short film by Tyler Faires is called “The Melvin Baldwin Green Case”. In 2014, Redding resident Melvin Green was arrested for abducting a 16-year-old Sacramento girl and forcing her into prostitution. The case grew to include a half-dozen other girls. Green was eventually sentenced to multiple life terms in prison. The film is the centerpiece of an anti-trafficking event taking place Thursday night at 7:00 at the Cascade Theater. There’s no charge. Seat reservations can be made at reddinghumantrafficking.eventbrite.com
