12-Million Dollar Project Will Revamp Affordable Housing Complex

An affordable housing complex in Redding is getting some major funding. Heritage Plaza off Benton Drive provides housing for 180 families. The structure is feeling the effects of time, however, having been built in 1968. 56 of the units are for families earning less than 50% of the area median income, and 60% for the rest. Renovations will include dual-pane windows, repairs to balconies and stairways, and new flooring, cabinets and energy star appliances. The improvements are possible due to a private and public partnership which is providing $12 Million, following approval at a recent meeting of the California Housing Finance Agency’s Board of Directors.
