A man with ties to Yreka and Oregon has been charged with attempted murder following a reported assault south of Yreka Thursday morning. Just before 8:30AM deputies were dispatched to Walters Lane, where the incident occurred. 33-year-old Andrew Mason was detained in the area. He had reportedly struck the victim in the head with a deadly weapon, which the sheriff’s office has not specified, and also tried to hit the victim with his car. The unidentified victim was taken to Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka and then transferred to a medical facility in Shasta County. Mason is being held without bail.
