Thieves Take Over 12K In Items From Oak Bottom Marina

A major theft at Oak Bottom Marina could be called insult to injury. Suntex Marinas Incorporated acquired the concessions contract at Whiskeytown on July 13th and ten days later the Carr Fire ignited. 3 days after that the fire ripped through Oak Bottom and destroyed water and sewer infrastructure, housing, office space, the store, restrooms, a boat ramp, docks, and about 40 boats including fishing boats, pontoons, deck cruisers and party barges. Suntex and the Park Service have been working hard to restore services and were hoping to open to the public on a limited basis, but then thieves hit the moorage area of Oak Bottom sometime between Sunday and Wednesday of this week. More than $12,000 worth of goods was taken, including 10 teal voyager 10 foot paddle boards, 14 black aluminum paddle arms, 4 Boss CD players, 6 2-way radios, a fish finder, 2 10 gallon gas cans, 10 Interstate marine batteries, 4 Mercury propellers, and a lot of gas siphoned from boats. Anyone with a clue is urged to call 941-6280.
