There’s been a murder in Centerville. At around 10:30PM Tuesday night 30-year-old Kody James Smith reportedly called 911 to say he had shot a person and two dogs at a home on Equestrian Drive off Placer Road west of Redding. Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and detained Smith. The victim, whose name has not been released, was found in the living room with the two dead dogs. The person who had been shot was taken to a hospital, but died of the apparent gunshot wounds. The sheriff’s office says Smith had been living at the home for about 2 months.
