The Shasta County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on Tuesday to ratify a local emergency proclamation made by Undersheriff Eric Magrini due to the winter storms. The report given to the board says the snowfall in Redding and elsewhere has not been seen at this level in 50 years. It says the downed trees, limbs and power poles and the damaged critical infrastructure has pushed conditions beyond the immediate control of local resources, services, personnel, equipment and facilities. Among other things, the report cites the great potential for flooding and mudslides in the scars left by the Carr, Delta and Hirz Fires. The emergency proclamation was made by Undersheriff Magrini on Wednesday, and the ratification by the board will allow it to continue beyond the automatic 7 day expiration. If ratified, the proclamation would be sent to the Governor’s office in hopes of receiving state financial assistance.
