High Water Levels Reported At Whiskeytown Lake

The level of Whiskeytown Lake is expected to rise and begin spilling down the Glory Hole, located near the Whiskeytown Dam. Clear Creek can be expected to begin receiving an additional 1200 to 1300 cubic feet per second. Meanwhile, the Spring Creek Debris Dam Reservoir is expected to crest the spillway, adding an additional 900 cubic feet per second to the Sacramento River. The Spring Creek Reservoir is the gathering point for the runoff out of Iron Mountain Mine after it’s been treated in various holding ponds. Prior to treatment, the toxic soup of minerals, poisons and heavy metals has been called the most contaminated water on the planet.
