Homes In South Redding Evacuated Due To Flooding

Some South Redding residents were ordered to evacuate Tuesday night due to flooding after Olney Creek and the A.C.I.D. Canal ran over their banks and left some homes in several feet of water. Areas under mandatory evacuation include the Safari Mobile Home Park, Emerald Lane, Jewel Lane, Alvin Lane and Laguna Honda Drive. Redding Fire Department ordered the evacuations for the safety of residents and fire engines were being used to help people through the deep water. RABA buses were then used to transport evacuees from the Westwood Circle K to the evacuation center, set up by the red cross at Juniper School on Ellis Street.
