Public Works Revises Road Closure Near Whiskeytown Lake

Access to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is not as restricted as it had been. Whiskey Creek Road has washed out near the intersection with Pioneer Road. That location is north of the Whiskey Creek Boat Ramp. Initially the decision was made to close Whiskey Creek Road at Highway 299. Thursday morning, the Shasta County Department of Public Works revised the closed area to just north of the boat ramp, allowing the public to continue to access the ramp and the many lakeside locations that can be reached by trails along the roadwayd. There’s no time estimate for reopening beyond the washed out bridge.
