Releases Into Sacramento River To Increase To 35,000 CFS Saturday

The Sacramento River is nearly bursting its banks, and it’ll be flowing even stronger in a couple of days. Thursday afternoon the Bureau of Reclamation almost quadrupled the releases from Keswick Dam, from 7,000 to 25,000 cubic feet per second. On Saturday they’ll increase it again, and it’ll be rushing at up to 35,000 cubic feet per second. Lake Shasta has risen dramatically with the recent storms. It’s now less than 22 feet from the crest of Shasta Dam, as inflows continue to rush down from the lake’s many tributaries.
