Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For 2018 Murder

A Red Bluff area man has gotten a life sentence for murdering his neighbor while they were drinking. Last April, 34-year-old Jacob Daniel Oropeza was at the home of 55-year-old Michael Paul Jones on Urban Lane several miles west of Red Bluff. The two men had been drinking heavily and were extremely intoxicated when an argument broke out. It ended when Oropeza repeatedly plunged his knife into Jones’ chest. When Tehama County Deputies arrived, Oropeza told them a story about being kidnapped, making no mention of stabbing Jones. A knife believed to be the murder weapon was found at Oropeza’s house. He’s been convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison.
