Firefighters Plan Training Exercise At Shasta College

Firefighters will be intentionally lighting building on fire at Shasta College this weekend. It’s all in order to hone their skills. The training involves about 20 volunteer firefighters from around Shasta County, along with Cal-Fire personnel. Buildings will be torched and extinguished by trainees under realistic conditions to prepare them for actual life-threatening situations. The training will take place Saturday and Sunday just north of the Old Oregon Trail campus, and smoke will be visible between 8AM and 5PM.
