Man Sentenced To Prison For Fatal DUI Crash

A Tehama County man has been sentenced for causing the death of a man while he was driving drunk. At around 5AM on February 24th of last year, a tractor trailer was northbound on Highway 99 north of Vina Road with Miguel Ullan of Florida at the wheel and a 50-year-old man also from Florida as a passenger. 25-year-old Adnan Mubarak of Proberta approached from behind at a high rate of speed driving a 2000 Honda Civic. As he passed the big rig, Mubarak lost control of the Honda and the right side of the car came into contact with the left front wheel of the truck. The Honda spun out and came to a stop facing the other way, with Mubarak uninjured. However, Ullan lost control of the truck, which veered off the roadway and tipped over onto it’s left side. The trailer became disconnected but the truck continued sliding until it was stopped by an large tree. Ullan suffered major internal injuries and his partner, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed. Mubarak has been convicted of two felonies: vehicular manslaughter while under the influence and DUI causing injury. He’s been sentenced to 5 years 8 months in state prison.
