Update: Alaskan Man Dies After Crash Near Old Station

A man died following a crash on Highway 44 in Eastern Shasta County earlier this week. Early Monday afternoon, 77-year-old Charles Wills of Ketchikan, Alaska was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his wife near Old Station. The CHP says someone had attempted a u-turn and got stuck in the snow, blocking the highway and causing a pile-up of several rear-end collisions. Wills apparently was not injured in the crash, but is believed to have died as a result of an ongoing medical issue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office has not determined a cause of death, pending a post-mortem exam.
