Some advanced technology allowed the capture of two people early Sunday morning. They had been in a car that crashed on Highway 44 near Deschutes Road in Palo Cedro, but fled before officers arrived. CHP helicopter H-16 circled over the area and used their thermal imaging camera to detect the men’s body warmth as they lay hidden in the brush. The officers in the air directed CHP Officers on the ground to where the two were hiding. The footage from the helicopter is posted to Facebook.
