It didn’t take long for the Redding Police Department’s Neighborhood Police Unit to make an arrest Wednesday. While investigating complaints of drug activity at the Bridgeway Inn in the 2700 block of Bechelli Lane, NPU arrested someone for drug possession within the first 10 minutes of being on scene. 57-year-old Willie James Evans was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Evans was also found to be on felony probation for assault with a deadly weapon. Evans was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on the charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.
