Investigators Say Man Found In A Ravine Was Murdered

A man found dead northwest of Yreka was murdered, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, which has released his name and a description of his vehicle, which remains missing. Deputies were called Monday morning to a ravine near Yreka Walker Road off Highway 96 in the small community of Klamath River. The dead man has been identified as 31-year-old Spencer Richard Hodgson, who had been living in the area and had previous ties to Santa Cruz. An autopsy was done Wednesday, revealing that Hodgson had been shot to death. The sheriff’s office says there’s no reason to believe that any threat exists to any area residents, but they do recommend that they keep their homes locked and keep an eye out for suspicious people. Law enforcement is on the lookout for Hodgson’s pickup truck, a white 2010 Toyota Tundra with license plate number 8-S-0-4-7-3-9. There may be a broken right rear window covered with orange plastic. Anyone who sees the truck should not approach it, but call 841-2900.
