This weekend may be the last chance for Redding residents to burn their accumulated weeds and downed branches. The significant volume of downed material from the snowstorm in February prompted the Redding Fire Department to open burning season early, but it officially ends at the end of April. There may be hope, though. in a conversation Wednesday morning on KQMS, Redding Fire Chief Cullen Kreider said there’s a possibility that the residential burn pile season may actually be extended for a week or two. The chief said it will depend on the weather remaining moderate, because the start of wildfire season is predicated on the moisture level of the area vegetation. For now, though, backyard burning is set to expire on Tuesday.
