A Redding woman was badly injured in a crash that caused issues for Southbound Interstate Five traffic on Friday. Just after 11AM a 2007 Mercedes SUV was wrecked when it struck the concrete median a little north of Fawndale Road. The driver, identified only as a 39-year-old woman from Redding, was not wearing a seatbelt and she was ejected on impact. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries, and her current condition is unavailable. The CHP says it was the third collision she had been involved in and she was driving “well in excess” of the speed limit of 65 miles an hour. Any possible witnesses are being asked to call 225-0500.
