Update: 3rd Vehicle Involved In Suspected DUI Crash

A crash in South Redding Monday afternoon sent four people to the hospital, and one vehicle involved in the crash remains a mystery. At around 1:30PM, a large crewcab GMC pickup was southbound on Highway 273 at high speed just north of Westwood Village when the driver made an unexpected abrupt turning movement and hit the rear of a compact Scion, according to Redding Police Sergeant Mark Montgomery. Fortunately there were no passengers in the Scion, as the right side of the car was largely sheared off. There were two passengers in the pickup and the driver is suspected of drunk driving. The truck had come to rest on its roof and before emergency personnel arrived, bystanders had pushed the truck upright, freeing the occupants. A third vehicle was apparently involved as well, but it was gone when police got there. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the RPD Traffic Division. Northbound traffic was diverted onto Eastside Road for a while. The names of the people involved in the crash, and their conditions, are unavailable.
