High housing costs in California has some people considering moving out of the area, but it varies by region. A recent poll by the Public Policy Institute of California found that a record-high share of Californians, 68%, believe that housing affordability is a big problem in their region, and 47% are seriously considering moving away from the part of the state they live in now due to housing costs. Of the five geographic areas surveyed, people living in Los Angeles county are more likely to be considering a move, with just 44 percent saying they haven’t considered moving. In the Central Valley, almost two thirds, have no plans to move. Statewide, about of half of the population is considering a move, with about a third saying they’re considering moving out of the state entirely. One in ten are looking to move to another area of California.
